Who is ready for high school football? We certainly are! We are ready to get behind our Falcons, Tigers, and Knights and cheer them on to lots of wins this season! These boys have worked hard since the last whistle of last season and are ready to get on the gridiron and play the sport they've grown up loving.

Many of these boys have grown up dreaming of taking the field on a Friday night, either as a Falcon, Tiger, or Knight, its a special moment each time they run onto the field. As parents, fans, or supporters, its our chance to get behind these boys and show them how much we enjoy watching them win!

I hope as this 2025 season begins, we will remember that these boys have put in countless hours of practice, but they will not be perfect. There will be dropped passes, missed tackles, mistakes, and fumbles. It's in these moments where we find out what we as fans are made of. Listen, it's easy to cheer, clap, and root them on after a big touchdown, but how we act after that sophomore who maybe just had a rough week drops that wide open pass, do we find out what kind of "fan" we truly are.

I'll be the first one to tell you that I am as competitive as anybody and I don't like it when my QB misses a wide open receiver, but these are kids. They might not like to hear that, but these players are still kids. Find me a 16 or 17 year old that's perfect. I certainly was not, and never will be. Are you perfect? No you aren't. So, on Friday nights when your team may not be performing they way YOU think they should, keep it to yourself. I promise you nobody wants to hear it.

I am not any better than any other fan, so this is also a reminder for myself this season. There are times when I'll think...HOW DID YOU MISS THAT? So I will have to remind myself of these very things I have just said. So...with that GO FALCONS! GO TIGERS GO KNIGHTS!

An electrical engineer living in rural Vermont is restoring old pay phones for free public use in areas with poor cellular service. Patrick Schlott came up with the idea, blending his love of tinkering with electronics with a need for reliable communication options in the community. He installed his first phone outside a local general store in Tunbridge with the blessing of the store’s owners, and it quickly became a useful local resource, especially in the event of emergencies.

After that first installation, community members requested more phones, leading to additional setups at the library in Thetford and an informational booth in Randolph. Schlott buys old pay phones from auctions, flea markets, or online and refurbishes them in his basement. Each phone connects to an Internet-based analog line and costs only a few dollars a month to operate, which he pays for now, but that may change as the project expands.

Schlott personally manages the phones, even acting as an operator when users dial zero, which connects the caller directly to his cellphone. The phone at the Latham Library has seen 370 calls in five months, often used by students calling parents. Interest in new installations continues to grow, with the next one planned for the library in Essex.

Americans Aren’t As Good At Spotting AI As They Think

Think you’re good at detecting AI-generated content?

These days, AI-generated content is on every screen and platform, leaving people confused and second-guessing everything. Americans are concerned about AI spreading misinformation and what they can believe. And according to a new study, we’re not as good at identifying AI as we think.

The “Evaluating Online Information Trustworthiness” from Socialtrait finds that Americans “significantly overestimate” their ability to detect AI-generated misinformation. The problem is, that makes them even more vulnerable to digital manipulation.

The study reveals that 88% of Gen Z and 84% of millennials say they’re confident in detecting AI-generated content, but the success rate of even tech-savvy participants is closer to 40%.

Younger Americans are the most confident and digitally engaged, but they also share AI-generated content most often, as 87% of millennials and 80% of Gen Z report doing it.

Just 3% of respondents in all age groups feel fully prepared to navigate AI-driven media.

Another 14% say they don’t feel prepared at all, and baby boomers are three times more likely than Gen Z to feel unprepared.

Nearly all participants (97%) agree that AI-generated content should require labeling, with just 1% saying that disclosure isn’t necessary.

Nearly three-quarters (72%) say they’re “not very likely” to believe controversial videos if they can’t verify them.

But that doesn’t mean they actually verify, as only 81% say they sometimes check account authenticity before trusting content.

Some states are thought to be more vulnerable to AI-powered misinformation, including:

Florida - Most at risk because of the aging population, high reliance on Facebook, political polarization.

Mississippi - At risk because of low digital literacy, rural reliance on Facebook for information

West Virginia - Higher risk because of limited broadband, older demographics and geographic isolation.

Alabama - More at risk because of digital literacy gaps and heavy reliance on Facebook.

International French Fry Day was last week, and McDonald’s Malaysia went big with the release of a huge portion of fries with an XXL size, shocking the internet. The actual meal was called the Fan Fries Meal, and featured and extra-wide box of fries meant to be shared or even eaten solo. Unfortunately for Americans, it was limited-time offer for fans across Malaysia only.

Chin Mei Lee, McDonald’s Malaysia chief marketing officer said “We know how much Malaysians love our fries – it’s never enough! That’ exactly what inspired the McDonald’s Fan Fries Meal. We wanted to create something truly memorable that brings people together over the one item they can never resist.”

Even though the promotion has concluded in Malaysia, there’s always hope that we might see the same thing over here in the U.S. in the future!

The Most Hated Sitcom Characters Of All Time

Some characters are annoying, but that doesn’t make them the worst … like Ross on “Friends.”

Some TV characters make it easy to love them, like Leslie Knope from “Parks and Recreation” and

Jim from “The Office.” And then there are the characters that drive us up the wall or are just totally unlikeable and those are the subject of a Reddit thread. It asks, “Who is the worst sitcom character of all time?”

People have some strong opinions on this topic and these are the most often repeated sitcom characters that people really can’t stand.

"Urkel on ‘Family Matters.’ Dude was annoying, yet became popular, and then took over the whole f-ing show.”

"Kimmy Gibbler on ‘Full House.’ Her neediness was only surpassed by her inability to take a hint. Her awkwardness made me feel second-hand embarrassment."

"Rachel Green on ‘Friends.’ She is actually the most appalling. She is such a difficult character to like. Any person who likes to portray her as a victim, I immediately think less of."

"Beverly Hofstadter on ‘The Big Bang Theory’ must enter this chat. NOTE: I adore the actress, and I think the character is brilliant. But Beverly is objectively awful across every category. Truly nailed it."

"I dislike Gene Belcher of ‘Bob's Burgers.’ I dunno what rubs me wrong, maybe just the general grossness of his jokes? Or his personality. He's the weakest link."

"Randy on Season 8 of ‘That '70s Show.’ and it's not even close."

"Jim from ‘According to Jim.’"

"I really liked ‘Cheers,’ but I couldn't bear Diane. An awful character that I felt was really badly portrayed. I understand that many people loved her, which baffles me!"

"Nellie from ‘The Office.’ She was annoying because of the storyline. It was frustrating that she just claimed Andy's job, just because he had one day off to sort out things with Erin. That's not how jobs work."

"Bernadette from ‘The Big Bang Theory.’ Her character changes from one episode to another. Strong personality traits yet completely undefined as a character."

"The wife, Jill, from ‘Home Improvement.’ She just lacked any kind of joy and was a vortex in the home that would suck up any happiness her sons or husband brought."⠀

Going To Bed Early May Help You Exercise More

So when I want to skip a workout, it’s not me being lazy, it’s just that I stayed up too late!

A lot of us struggle with revenge bedtime procrastination, when we stay up late to enjoy personal time and do things we didn’t have time for during the day, even though we know it will negatively affect us the next day. But new research highlights a benefit of getting to bed earlier and it’s not just about getting more sleep.

A new study of nearly 20-thousand people finds having an earlier bedtime may help you workout more the next day.

Researchers analyzed the sleep and exercise habits of the participants who wore biomedical devices to track their activity.

The data gave them more than 5.9-million “person nights” to review and figure out if habitually early bedtimes correlate with other habits.

And they found a big one - the earlier people went to bed, the more likely they were to engage in moderate-to-vigorous physical activity the next day.

The earlier the better, too. Adults who were regularly in bed by 9 p.m. got around 30 more minutes of physical activity the next day than those who got to bed at 1 a.m.

The nine-o-clockers even beat those who hit the sack at 11 p.m. regularly, getting about 15 more minutes of exercise than they did.

“Standard nine-to-five routines can clash with the natural sleep preferences of evening types, leading to social jetlag, poorer sleep quality, and increased daytime sleepiness – which can all reduce motivation and opportunity for physical activity the next day,” explains lead study author Dr. Josh Leota with Monash University in Australia. And since exercise is associated with just about every positive health outcome, heading to bed earlier may be worth it.⠀

According to the poll of 5-thousand Americans, split evenly by state:

Folks in New Jersey are most likely to identify as an “ice cream connoisseur” (58%), with New Mexico coming in a close second (56%).

California, Kansas, New York and North Dakota all tie for third (55%).

While 72% of respondents say ice cream is their all-time favorite dessert, some states seem to love it more than others.

Delaware, New Jersey, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee and Texas show the most love for ice cream, rating their love for it an 8.9 out of 10.

Friday (19%) and Saturday (29%) are the most popular days of the week to eat ice cream and the most common way people enjoy it is in a bowl (49%), followed by a cone (35%) and straight from the carton (17%).

Classics reign supreme when it comes to flavors, with chocolate landing at number one (15%), followed by vanilla and mint chocolate chip, which tie for second (12% each).

People love toppings, too, especially hot fudge (48%), caramel sauce (40%), chocolate syrup (39%), and whipped cream (36%).

A mother and her nine-year-old son were rescued after being stranded for over 24 hours in California’s remote Sierra Nevada wilderness. They had left Sacramento for Camp Wolfeboro last Friday, but didn’t return or respond to phone calls. After a missing persons report was filed, Calaveras County deputies launched a search operation.

The breakthrough came on Saturday, when campers reported seeing a matching vehicle and searchers later found handwritten SOS notes at a Forest Service road junction. The notes read, “HELP. Me and my son are stranded... can’t call 911” and instructed rescuers to follow brown fabric strips to find them. Following these directions, the search team located the pair near their disabled vehicle.

Rescuers freed the vehicle and escorted the mother and son back safely. The Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office credits the successful rescue to the family’s use of clear messages, hazard lights, and a whistle signaling for help. They also stress the importance of letting others know your travel plans and expected return time.

Not many of us know what being a country star is like, but almost all of us can relate to being a worried parent of an injured child. Jason and Brittany Aldean just went through it with their seven-year-old son Memphis this week, as the boy landed himself in the ER with a fractured collarbone. Brittany explained on her Instagram Stories yesterday what the family went through. Over a clip of Memphis in a hospital bed, Mom wrote, "It was a long night in the ER, but Memphis is ok. He fractured his collarbone and will be in a sling for a couple weeks. Just rest and extra lovin, he’ll be healed before we know it." Both dad and grandpa chimed in, with Jason saying "I hope it’s not broke, but I think maybe you’re probably gonna have to get a little sling." Jason's dad had tips on how Memphis should tell his friends the injury happened: just explain that he got jumped and that he "beat ‘em all up."

From grey hair to wrinkles, the downsides to aging get a lot of attention, but it’s not all bad. A Reddit thread is reminding us of the positive parts about getting up there in years by asking, “What are you starting to love more as you get older?”

More than 900 responses have come in so far and the list is full of simple pleasures, including:⠀

"Myself."

"Silence and people canceling plans – that’s foreplay now."

"Being at home, being in bed by 11pm, and grocery shopping."

"Not having plans."

"Having real conversations, no phone, hanging out with myself, and the self respect I have gained over the years with no need to please others. It's like a breath of fresh air."

"Not giving a s**t what people think is an incredible feeling."

"Birdwatching. Sorry – 'birding'."

"Probably not the answer you'd expect from Reddit, but clubbing and partying. Grew up in a pretty sheltered, religious household and was not able to experience these things as much when I was younger because of it."

"My parents. The older you get, the shorter the time you have with them."

"Feminine twaddle, piano, needlework, and sitting around talking about other people's children. It's a genuine joy now."

"Vegetables. God what I’ve been missing out on with brussel sprouts, broccoli, and cauliflower. They're so good!"

"No headphones. Just listening to life happening."

"Sleep; it used to be a punishment for me when I was younger – like timeouts – now it’s all I want to do."

"Not feeling obliged to go to social 'events'. It's easier to say 'no' now."

"That I choose comfort over brand. My feet are only just recovering from wearing 'fashionable' trainers. Bloody toes are like burnt sausages."

"Dreaming. I was drinking to excess most days to the point where I was no longer dreaming or remembered even a smidgen of a dream. Since I stopped drinking, I dream intensely every night and get a full sleep. I will not trade the dreams or sleep for anything."

Kelly Clarkson said it herself: when Dolly Parton asks you to sing something, you just shut your mouth and do it. Clarkson has begun her "Studio Sessions" residency in Las Vegas, and, as she explained from the stage, she was taking requests. Some requests. She posted a pic of the marquee at Caeser's Palace that advertised both her and Dolly Parton's shows. "think this is a sign I should cover a Dolly song at one of my shows…. but which song?" she wrote alongside the pic. At that point Dolly herself entered the chat. "Hey Kelly," she commented under the post. "I think you should sing 'I Will Always Love You' because I think you do one of the best versions of that song that I have ever heard. Whitney (Houston) and I would both be proud…." Before singing the song, Kelly explained, "Here’s the thing. This is how much I love Dolly Parton because when Dolly Parton asks you to sing something, you just shut your mouth and do it. And I love Whitney Houston as well. She’s one of my biggest influences."

Housekeeping Reveals The Filthiest Parts Of A Hotel Room

I don’t care if the light fixture in the hotel room is a little dusty, but the throw pillow on my bed and shower head? Those should definitely be clean!

When you check into a hotel room, everything may look sparkling clean, but the crisp linens and spotless bathroom may give you a false sense of cleanliness. The thing is, some of the dirtiest places in hotel rooms may be hiding in plain sight.

Part of the problem is that housekeeping staff doesn’t have enough time to deep clean every room every day. Under standard conditions, a housekeeping pair only has about 30 minutes to clean a room top to bottom, according to Enza Laterrenia, head of housekeeping at Canne Bianche Lifestyle & Hotel.

That means they probably can’t get everything that needs to be done and these spots tend to be the dirtiest in hotel rooms.

Decorative pillows - Those throw pillows on the bed or sitting area, along with those decorative runners on the foot of the bed don’t get washed often, if at all. So any germaphobes may want to move them out of the way ASAP after checking in rather than put your face on them when lying down.

High-touch surfaces - Travel advisor Rani Cheema says hotel room phones are the most unsanitary item. “If there’s an actual phone and I need to pick it up, I am grossed out by the receiver. “I think it’s the mouth part, because no one’s cleaning that.” Higher-end hotels may give remotes, light switches and phones a wipe down before every check-in, but don’t count on it.

Carpets - Laterrenia explains, “They tend to trap dust and bacteria, making them one of the more demanding items to sanitize.”

Hidden contamination spots - “Travel & Leisure” A-List advisor Maria Diego warns about the stuff tucked away, like barware inside drawers, that may be handled by guests without housekeeping staff knowing. She’s also concerned about bathtubs with jets, noting she won’t take a bath at a hotel unless it’s a “super luxe five star hotel and only if it’s a non-jet bathtub.”

Hard to reach spots - We’re talking high ceilings, chandeliers, ceiling fans, curtain rods and shower heads, which may be overlooked during a standard hotel room cleaning, so they may be dirtier than they look.

Relationship expert Dr. Jane Smith says that the secret to a happy relationship is simple…and not a surprise. She believes couples who talk openly and honestly can better understand each other’s needs and feelings. This helps reduce misunderstandings and conflicts. Dr. Smith stresses active listening, where partners listen carefully without interrupting, as a crucial part of this process. She advises setting aside time each day to talk without distractions, like phones or TV, to build a stronger connection.

For instance, Sarah and John faced struggles in their marriage because they rarely shared their feelings. After attending Dr. Smith’s workshop, they started spending 30 minutes each evening talking without distractions. Over time, they grew closer and understood each other better. Dr. Smith notes this is a common outcome when couples prioritize communication, leading to happier, more supportive partnerships.

After deadly floods hit central Texas over the July 4th weekend, children across the state set up lemonade stands to help victims. The floods killed about 27 people at Camp Mystic, an all-girls summer camp along the Guadalupe River. Young Texans responded with kindness by raising money through lemonade sales. Some examples of kids responding to tragedy with good works and good lemonade:

14-year-old Brylee Livesay raised over $600 for flood victims and caught the attention of local police for her good work.

The Birdsong family's children ran their own stand, donating all money to affected camps.

The Woodard family's sons aimed to raise $1,000, getting close to their goal in one day.

Nine-year-old twins Corrigan and Cannon Camp from Fort Worth raised over $5,000 during the flood weekend. After hearing about the disaster, one twin suggested the lemonade stand idea, and they worked for hours serving neighbors.

Young Shan Patel also set up a stand on his mother's birthday to raise money for therapy services for flood families.

These kids showed that even the youngest community members can make a big difference during tough times.

Successful Couples Do These Four Things In The Morning

Relationship expert Sara Nasserzadeh has shared four morning habits that successful couples use to strengthen their bond. These simple practices help couples stay connected even when life gets busy.

First, couples should say hello to each other in the morning. Sara calls this "basic etiquette." That little greeting tells your partner "I see you. You're alive. I'm alive. I appreciate you." She says many couples skip this simple step, but it's a powerful way to keep that emotional connection strong.

Second, successful couples make small loving gestures for each other. This might mean making coffee for your partner, putting out their robe, or setting up their breakfast bowl. These actions show "I go out of my way for you" and "I celebrate you today."

Third, they spend a few minutes together in the morning, even if it's just having coffee. Therapist Amy Morin says this connection time creates a regular ritual that both partners can look forward to. It reminds them that even when the day gets stressful, they need to make time for what really matters.

Finally, successful couples include physical affection like a kiss or hug before leaving for work. This releases feel-good hormones like oxytocin, which strengthens their bond and makes them want to grow closer together.

How Pets Keep Your Mind Sharp As You Age

We all know pets bring joy, slobbery kisses, and the occasional fur-covered couch. Well it turns out they might also help keep your brain in tip-top shape as you age. Recent research suggests that owning a cat or dog can actually slow down cognitive decline in older adults.

From helping you stay physically active to adding routine and emotional support, pets can play a powerful role in mental wellness. Dog owners in particular tend to retain better memory skills over time, and cat lovers may enjoy stronger verbal fluency. Experts believe the secret lies in the active lifestyle, emotional connection, and even social opportunities that come with owning more interactive animals like dogs and cats, while birds and fish didn’t seem to offer significant benefits.

Daily Walks = Brain Gains: Taking your dog out for regular walks doesn’t just keep your legs moving…it also boosts circulation and reduces stress, both of which support brain health. The physical activity that comes with dog ownership can help prevent age-related decline in memory and thinking skills.

Routine, Routine, Routine: Pets thrive on consistency, and guess what? So does your brain. Feeding, grooming, and playtime create a structured day, which has been linked to better cognitive functioning in older adults. This predictable rhythm can keep your mind grounded and engaged, even on slower days.

Conversation Starters with Fur: Walking a dog or sharing funny cat stories is a great way to connect with others, and socializing is key for brain health. Pet owners often experience more frequent and meaningful social interactions, from chatting with neighbors to meeting fellow pet lovers. These small moments of connection may help protect against isolation and its affects.

Emotional Support: Pets are amazing at sensing your mood and offering comfort just when you need it. That emotional bond can lower stress levels. Simply petting a cat or hugging a dog can produce feel-good brain chemicals that improve focus and mood.

Mental Stimulation Through Play: Playing with your pet keeps you engaged and alert, whether it's tossing a ball or hiding treats. These mini-challenges promote problem-solving and coordination. Keeping your brain active in fun, low-pressure ways like this can help keep it flexible.

They Make You Laugh, And That’s Good for You: Laughter has been shown to lower stress and stimulate brain activity, and pets are basically fuzzy comedians. Whether your dog is chasing their tail or your cat just dove into a paper bag, these silly moments add joy to your day. And a joyful brain is a healthier brain.

Most of us are guilty of it and new research from NordPass reveals just how bad our password habits can be.

They analyzed passwords stolen by malware or exposed in data links to find the most commonly used ones.

For the sixth annual report, NordPass collaborated with NordStellar to look at both the most common personal and corporate passwords worldwide.

It turns out, the passwords people use at work aren’t that different from the ones they use in their personal lives.

The most commonly used passwords are often some form of consecutive numbers, like “123456,” which is number one on the list.

It was used 30-million times, nearly twice the number of times the second most common password, “123456789” was used (1.6-million times.)

All the passwords on the list are so easy to crack, it would take a hacker less than one minute.

Experts say adding letters and other characters to a password makes it a lot stronger and much tougher to crack.

Why Americans Still Struggle To Get Off The Couch

So, it’s not just me who’s still enjoying all the lazy-enabling technology we got used to during lockdown?

Until the pandemic hit, Americans were becoming less sedentary. The average amount of time spent sitting had been on a steady decline from 2013 to early 2020, then lockdowns and remote work became the norm and everything changed. But it’s been five years now and new research shows we’re still not as active as we were.

According to a new study, average sedentary time was around 5.9-hours a day between 2017 and 2020. Today, Americans are still sitting for around six hours every day and that hasn’t changed since 2021. So, what’s keeping us from getting off the couch? The technology we started using during lockdowns.

Experts think that all the conveniences we adopted back then play a big part in why Americans are still so sedentary. Our meetings went virtual, we swapped shopping cart pushing for grocery delivery and going out for a quick bite to eat turned into food delivery services bringing it right to our door. So moving less and sitting more became the new way of life for a lot of us, which isn’t great for our health. No one’s saying we have to hit the gym seven days a week, but small doses of daily movement can make a big difference and there’s no better time to start than now.

Older Couples Say “What?” More Often Than “I Love You”

How many people out there do you think blame their divorce on their partner not being able to hear them?

Do you find yourself saying “what?” or having your partner ask you that more frequently these days? Our hearing is one of the first things to go as we get older and it turns out, our relationships can be taking a hit as a result.

According to a study of 2-thousand adults over age 55 and in relationships, a lot of couples struggle with at least one of them not being able to hear the other regularly. It finds the phrase “what?” is actually said more than “I love you” for couples who are middle-aged or older.

But being asked to repeat yourself or mishearing your partner can be frustrating and 46% admit they’ve argued with their partner over not hearing each other properly.

A third of couples bicker with their partner over mishearing several times a week, which can leave them feeling frustrated (42%), ignored (33%), disconnected (19%), neglected and even unloved (11%).

Almost half of respondents confess they have to speak louder so their partner can hear them.

Just over a quarter (28%) of couples ask each other to repeat things an average of four times a week, but 20% do it seven times or more.

Some have had to confront their partner when they thought they weren’t listening during an important discussion.

Those dealing with this issue say patience, understanding and avoiding cutting each other off is the key to keeping the peace, along with getting a hearing test.

There’s a new limited-time Cheez-It flavor that fans are excited about – Cheez-It x Wendy’s Baconator. Cheez-It and Wendy’s have collaborated to produce a cracker that’s Baconator Cheeseburger-inspired. The Baconator burger features two quarter-pound patties, Applewood smoked bacon, American cheese, ketchup, and mayonnaise and the new Cheez-It x Wendy’s Baconator Crackers aim to retain all of the flavors in a snack.

The new crackers are limited edition and are packaged in a 12.4-ounce box and will be hitting shelves later this month. Customers can order a Cheez-It x Wendy's Baconator Snack Set for $4.99 that includes a box of the Baconator crackers, and a Wendy’s Frosty Key Tag. The tag guarantees unlimited Frostys through the end of 2025.

A reviewer from the kitchn was impressed with the flavor of the crackers and said the flavor was very close to that of the Baconator cheeseburger. Look for the new product on store shelves throughout the month of July for a limited time only.

At the Cincy show, Keith brought one of the contestants on stage with him. It's unclear if this is a hint as to who does well on the show, but this appearance was not part of the competition. Introducing Britnee Kellogg, Urban said she was "someone who you guys don’t know yet but you will." The two performed the 2013 Keith Urban/Miranda Lambert duet "We Were Us," with Kellogg taking Miranda's parts. "The Road" will premiere this fall on Sunday nights on CBS

A Third Of Americans Rely On Their Morning Routine For A Good Day

Let’s be honest, a “perfect” night of sleep would be more than seven hours, right!

We all have a routine to start the day and a new survey reveals just how essential they are. Mornings make or break the day for a lot of us and 37% admit they can tell if their day is going to be good or bad within 10 minutes of waking up.

According to the poll of 2-thousand U.S. adults:

Half say they can tell how the day ahead will be based on how tired or alert they feel after waking up.

It takes an average of 25 minutes for folks to feel fully awake after sleeping.

People spend about half an hour on morning routines, regardless of age or gender.

A third of Americans admit their whole day can be thrown off if they miss a step or two in their usual routine.

If they forget to make fresh coffee or tea (38%), forget to brush their teeth (34%), skip drinking water (28%), don’t shower (25%) or don’t exercise (22%), it throws their day off.

To have a better morning, people need to have an early breakfast (49%), get some fresh air (46%) or drink as much water as coffee or tea (24%).

Having a good day can kick off a cycle, as 68% say having a good day leads to a good night’s sleep, and 70% say a good night of sleep leads to a good day.

The average person gets about six hours of sleep a night, but the “perfect” night would give them an extra hour to snooze.

Nearly three-quarters (72%) think their day would be better if they got that extra hour of sleep.

Things respondents think could help them get more sleep include watching TV in bed (44%), reading (28%), drinking a glass of water (27%), putting fresh sheets on the bed (19%) and scrolling through social media (17%).

But sleep isn’t always completely restful for 87% of people, as many of them sometimes experience pain or stiffness after waking up.

Back pain is the biggest culprit (43%), followed by joint pain (37%) and neck pain (30%).

Nearly half (46%) believe that pain or stiffness can negatively impact their day.

Things You Lose As You Age That You Don't Miss

Aging gets a bad rap. Think wrinkles, back pain, not knowing what the latest TikTok trend is. But let’s be real: there are plenty of things we happily leave behind as we get older. With time comes clarity, confidence, and the sweet relief of not caring so much about things that once consumed us. Turns out, some of the baggage we drop with age wasn’t worth carrying in the first place.

When you’re young, life can feel like a nonstop audition as you try to impress, keep up, and check all the boxes. But as the candles multiply on your birthday cake, so does your wisdom. You start to understand what’s actually important, and what’s just noise. The best part? You realize you haven’t really lost anything at all, and you’ve gained freedom instead.

Here are a few things many of us leave behind as we age, without shedding a single tear:

The Need To Please Everyone: Once upon a time, we did mental gymnastics just to keep everyone happy, even if it meant draining ourselves dry. But age brings the realization that not everyone’s approval is worth chasing. These days, we save our energy for the people who truly matter, and let the rest go with a smile and a wave.

Needing To Have It All Figured Out: We used to panic if our life plan wasn’t airtight by age 25. Now? We know that no one actually has it all figured out, and that’s kind of the point. Life’s a work in progress, not a finished spreadsheet.

Toxic Relationships: Drama-filled friendships, emotionally draining partners, one-sided work connections…no thanks. Aging helps sharpen our boundaries and our nonsense detectors. We’d rather have a few solid, loving people than a crowd full of chaos.

Being Afraid Of Saying No: Back in the day we said yes even when we wanted to scream no, then stayed up all night regretting it. Now, we’ve discovered the magic of a firm, guilt-free “No.” It’s empowering, it's healthy, and it doesn’t require a three-paragraph explanation.

Worrying About Your Appearance: We used to fixate on every wrinkle, every pound, every comparison. But now we know beauty isn't about flawless skin or perfectly toned arms. It’s about energy, confidence, and kindness.

Chasing The Spotlight: Being the center of attention used to feel like a win. These days, we’d rather be heard, respected, and left in peace at a dinner party. The spotlight is overrated, especially when you know your worth doesn’t depend on being the loudest in the room.

Comparing Yourself To Everyone Else: Social media used to send us into a spiral of “Why don’t I have that life?” But now we get it: everyone’s on their own messy, beautiful, unique path. Comparison is the thief of joy, so we’ve learned to focus on ourselves and our own joy.

Rushing Through Life: We used to sprint through our days, schedules jammed, productivity maxed, rest ignored. But age whispers, “Slow down.” And that’s a good thing, really! Now we savor the moments, prioritize peace, and know that being busy isn’t the same as being fulfilled.

Trying To Control Every Part Of Your Life: Younger us tried to fix people, predict outcomes, and bend life into our perfectly designed plans. That’s pretty hard to make happen, especially day after day, year after year. Now, we lean into flexibility, trust our resilience, and accept that sometimes the best things happen when we loosen our grip.

Chasing After Superficial Things: Titles, awards, shiny new toys so you could keep up with the Jones…we used to chase them all. But as we age, we value purpose and joy over artificially inflating our own egos. We don’t need a gold star to know we’re doing just fine.

Worrying About Past Failures: In youth, every misstep felt monumental and every wrong turn felt like the end of the world. But with time, we realize that failure was just a part of the ride (and often the most educational part). These days, we carry wisdom, not regret, and keep moving forward a little stronger than before.

On Sunday, a father jumped into the ocean to save his young daughter after she fell overboard from the Disney Dream cruise ship as it sailed between the Bahamas and Fort Lauderdale. The incident occurred during the final leg of the four-night Bahamian cruise. Passengers say the dad treaded water for over 10 minutes with his daughter in his arms before a rescue crew reached them.

An emergency alert was issued and crew members responded quickly, deploying a rescue boat and tossing life preservers into the sea. Passengers watched from the deck as the ship turned around and a rescue team successfully retrieved both the father and child. Videos posted online captured cheers and emotional reactions from fellow passengers.

Disney Cruise Line issued a statement praising their crew for swift action that led to the safe return of both guests. While it’s still not clear how the child fell from Deck 4 despite safety barriers, witnesses are calling the father a hero.
