Dierks Bentley Was Told "Drunk On A Plane" Would Flop

While talking to "Us" magazine about his new album "Broken Branches" that came out Friday, Dierks Bentley revealed that he was told by some in the music industry that one of his biggest hits was bound to be a certified flop. "A lot of people told me that 'Drunk on a Plane' would never go over [well]. They’re like, 'Dude, your rednecks don’t fly.' I’m like, 'Rednecks don’t fly? Have you been on a Southwest flight?'" The song was released as a single back in 2014 and went 4X platinum, not only topping the country charts but providing Dierks his third-biggest pop hit ever, after "What Was I Thinkin'" and "Gone." Shows what "a lot of people" know.
