Dolly Parton Shot Down Miley Cyrus The First Time She Played Her New Music For Her

Dolly Parton is everyone's favorite aunt, always up, always happy, so it's easy to forget she is also a legendary songwriter. Miley Cyrus, who is Dolly's god-daughter, was reminded of this fact when she was getting ready to record new music. Miley posted on Instagram how Dolly gently told her her writing wasn't quite there yet. "I played her ‘Something Beautiful,’ and I was excited, because she just came off her rock album, so I thought she was really gonna get it....she goes, 'Alright, I see what you’re doing here. You got any hits?’ I was pretty sure I didn’t at that time, so I was like, ‘Yeah, I do. It’s called ‘More to Lose,’ but I hadn’t written it yet. So I flew back to LA...I got in the studio and went and wrote this song. But I’ve always thought of this song as my ‘I Will Always Love You.’ So this is my song for Aunt Dolly.”
