The Powerball drawing is for $358 million at 10 tonight. No one matched them all last Saturday night. And with the Mega Millions drawing for Tuesday night set for $714 million, I thought I’d buy a few tickets and then buy a PAYDAY candy bar for good luck. Convenience stores actually do have better days and sell more items when jackpots get larger because people who buy lottery tickets usually buy more impulse items like snacks and drinks. So what do you suppose convenience stores sell more of on those days? Well it isn’t Payday Candy Bars! On the days when lottery jackpots get up well into the millions or billions of dollars people buy more lottery tickets hoping to improve their odds of winning!
