Johnny Rodriguez, a groundbreaking Mexican-American singer who topped the country charts in the '70s with hits like “I Just Can’t Get Her Out of My Mind,” “Ridin’ My Thumb to Mexico” and “That’s the Way Love Goes,” has passed. Rodriguez was named the most promising male vocalist at the 1972 Academy of Country Music Awards, and his debut album, "Introducing Johnny Rodriguez," earned a nomination for album of the year in 1973. He reeled off 15 straight Top Ten country hits from 1973 to 1977, with his final Top 40 country hit, "I Didn't (Every Chance I Had)" coming in 1988. In 2007, he was inducted into the Texas Country Music Hall of Fame. Rodriguez was 73-years-old.
