Robert Duvall, a well-respected actor who came up through the New York Theater Scene and Television, passed away on Sunday. Duvall played rounders in TV series in the 60’s on shows like The Virginian and Cimarron Strip before reaching stardom in the 1970’s. As an actor Duvall was convincing and believable in any role he was chosen for and played interesting characters like Boo Radley in, “To Kill a Mockingbird.” He was Tom Hagen in “The Godfather” and remembered for delivering a classic line as Lt, Colonel Kilgore who, ‘loved the Smell of Napalm in the morning’ in Francis Ford Coppola’s movie, “Apocalypse Now.” He knocked heads with John Wayne in, "True Grit" but maintained decades long friendships with others and considered Clint Eastwood, Dustin Hoffman, Gene Hackman and Kevin Costner to be some of his best friends. His accomplishments included an Academy Award, a BAFTA, several Golden Globes & two primetime Emmys. He had 130 TV and Movie credits, starring in 90 to 100 films and stayed active in Hollywood well into his 90’s. Robert Duvall was 95 years old when he passed away Sunday.
