Today we celebrate the 250^th Birthday of the US Marine Corps (USMC) born November 10, 1775 out of necessity to serve during the Revolutionary War. Envisioned to be a dedicated force capable of fighting on land or sea, the US Marine Corps quickly became a fierce, elite force built of battle ready troops, first to fight, feared by their foes and well respected by their allies the world over. U.S. General James Mattis sized up Marines in a very few words when he adopted the motto “No better friend - no worse enemy” for his 1st Division Marines when he took command in the year 2000.
