The National Weather Service in Huntsville says dangerous heat indices will continue through Sunday. Heat indexes are expected to range from 95 to 102 degrees during the afternoon. Heat safety will be essential for everyone the rest of this week. Chances for showers and thunderstorms increase starting tomorrow and few of those storms could be strong to severe each afternoon. If you must be outdoors, drink plenty of water, take frequent breaks and make sure outdoor pets and animals have plenty of water and shade. Never leave children or pets in a car where temperatures can sore to 140 or more degrees.
