Elkmont Couple Charged With Child Abuse and Neglect

An Elkmont couple is in the Limestone County jail charged with abuse and neglect of a non-verbal child.

An Elkmont couple is in the Limestone County jail charged with abuse and neglect of a non-verbal child.  In a post on the department’s Facebook page Sheriff Joshua McLaughlin said that 40-year-old Christopher Esslinger and 36-year-old Jessica Esslinger were arrested this past Saturday following an intensive investigation that began in February. The Limestone County Department of Human Resources took custody of the child. The child was evaluated by medical professionals due to suspected injuries, malnutrition and other serious concerns. Both suspects are being held in the Limestone County jail on 100-thousand-dollar bonds each.
