Employees of Toledo Molding and Die in Fayetteville are reeling after being notified yesterday that they will be loosing their jobs. In an email from Elaine Middleton , Executive Director of the Fayetteville Lincoln County Industrial Development Board to members of the IDB Oversight Committee and Lincoln County Mayor Bill Newman indicated employees as well as Fayetteville and Lincoln county officials were notified Monday morning that the plant would be closing no later than April 30. In a statement on Strauss Borelli PLLC, a class action law firm, indicated that the company had notified the Tennessee Department of Labor and workforce development March 4th of its decision to conduct a mass layoff. Strauss Borrelli said that the late notice may have violated the WARN act, a federal law that protects employees from losing their jobs with less than 60 days prior notice. Strauss Borelli indicated 333 employees will be affected by this closure. In her email Middelton said she had already contacted the state to coordinate a rapid response team for the affected employees. Midleton said local industries are already reaching out as news of the closure spread yesterday afternoon. We will continue to closely follow this story and provide you updates as we learn more.
