Homeland Security and The Coffee County Emergency management agency have been investigating the cause of a fuel leak at Tullahoma Airport that happened shortly after 11 o’clock on the night of October 29th. In a media release issued late yesterday afternoon the spill was classified as accidental caused by human error, a lack of training of airport personnel and a lack of standard operating procedure guidelines. A bucket placed inadvertently on a valve handle was found half full of water due to heavy rain the night of the spill and may have caused the value to partially open due to the weight of the bucket. It was not disclosed how much fuel actually spilled.
