Elkmont is mourning the loss of Limestone County District 1 Commissioner Daryl Sammet. A post the Limestone County Commission Facebook page said, “ It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of District 1 Commissioner Daryl Sammet. Not only was he a respected Limestone County Commission member, but he was also a loyal friend and mentor. Commissioner Sammet was exemplary in his fight. He fought the fight, he finished the race, and he kept the faith. Please remember his family in your prayers. Funeral arrangements will be provided as soon as they are made available.” The post did not indicate the cause of death. Sammet was 72-years-old.
