A few residents have been outspoken on social media about the steel plates in the roadways in areas where work on the water infrastructure project is taking place. Fayetteville Public Utility CEO and General Manager Britt Dye explains why the plates are necessary, (BITE FULL 043026 DYE :21 Q: PART OF CONSTRUCTION). Once work on a section of waterline begins, and sections are replaced, as part of the process crews must return to pressure test, flush and run bacterial test on the new lines before they can be used for public water consumption and the roads completely repaired. To save crews time and keep your water bill as low as possible, using the plates is the safest, most cost-effective way to accomplish that. Motorists are urged to use caution in the construction zones and if the plates bother you use an alternate route while the work is being completed. ( Click Audio Link For Story with sound bite)
