With the frigid temperatures we’ve been experiencing the past couple of days a lot of space heaters have been called into duty. If you are using a space heater both Fayetteville and Lincoln County fire fighters want remind you to make sure the heater is level and keep it on a nonflammable, hard surface. Keep the heater at least three feet from any flammable surface in every direction, keep kids and pets away from the heater, never leave it running while you’re away or sleeping and plug it directly into a wall outlet, never use an extension cord. Regardless of your heat source, always have a working smoke and carbon monoxide detector on every level of your home.
